There are few things that are more likely to cause panic in the heart of an event planner than a lot of unsold tickets right before an event. The best way to avoid this stressful situation is to come up with some great ideas to encourage attendees to register early.

It goes without saying that every event should be an enticing occasion for your target market. But, have you communicated this to your audience? Share your vision for the event and how it will have a positive impact on their lives. Make this obvious for your followers with a series of blog and social media posts that make it clear what’s going on during the event and why it matters to them.

Event registration should be easy.

Most of your attendees will be busy people with lots of distractions. The chances are, if they can’t buy tickets the first time they try, they won’t return. Get social.

When it comes to social media, the best approach is to keep talking about your event. No one will be interested in daily “Please come to this amazing event” posts, but they will care if you tell them what exactly is great about it. News about sponsors, themes, event swag, and offers get people interested. Pro tip: people love behind-the-scenes gossip, so incorporate this into your marketing strategy!

You can get your attendees to spread the word about the event. Incentivise them to sell tickets for you by offering rewards. A refer-a-buddy discount, priority seating or even VIP access if attendees hit a certain target will get them talking about the event.

Make it an exclusive event.

There’s nothing to get people to queue up to buy tickets quite like being told they can’t attend. Emphasize the limited number of tickets and the extra special elements of the event (well-known speaker, award-winning caterers, luxurious venue).
